“The most precious Christmas gift”

From Carla, peace1 on Twitter:

“John was hospitalized & forced to give his dog to the Rome Humane Society. When RN Jennifer heard about it, she went there & adopted John’s dog, so that she could bring him to visit while he completed his rehabilitation. This kindness is the most precious Christmas gift.”

The true meaning of Christmas indeed.

Feetloaf?!?

So I’ve been pondering this since Halloween. Apparently “feetloaf” is a thing, and I’m still ambivalent about it. On the one hand, I totally admire the holiday-themed creativity. (And those celery toenails are, admittedly, kinda cool.) On the other hand, I’m . . . squeamish, I guess.

What about you? Would you have a nice juicy slice?

Meet my valentine!

Presenting . . . Sissy! She was born in Thailand in 1968, which means she’s 52 years old. She’s 8 feet, 3 inches tall, and her favorite food is mazuri pellets. She loves to splash and swim in ponds, even in the rain, and she has an unusual communication style of flipping the end of her trunk to make a popping noise. These delightful sounds are often heard when she’s socializing or when she has a new enrichment item to play with.

Isn’t she beautiful?!?

You see, for Valentine’s Day I “adopted” Sissy, a resident of the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee.  Am I in love? Totally.
